Bryan Ashley, a leading manufacturer of high-end custom hospitality furniture, is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of all Bryan Ashley projects at budgeted cost throughout North America. The Logistics coordinator plans, manages, negotiates rates, and coordinates with brokers, forwarders, shippers, carriers, customer warehouses and customs to move the freight to the customers to meet delivery deadlines within agreed budget limits.  The coordinator also manages a direct team of transportation specialists in the US and coordinates with the Asia transportation team.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintains constant (daily and hourly) communication with shippers, brokers, customs and other related parties via e-mail and phone to ensure freight moves on schedule and on budget.
  • Acts proactively and assertively in dealings with brokers, receiving warehouses, customer location contacts, etc. to move freight efficiently and cheaply.
  • Maintains frequent communication with everyone in Operations, Finance and Sales, and Project Managers on the schedules, status and changes in priority of containers as well as with client representatives and warehouses. All communications should be with diplomacy, tact and a sense of urgency so that we excel in our goal of outstanding customer service.  
  • Coordinate alternative routing when needed to meet customer demands or pricing restraints.
  • Import process documentation; Certificate of Origin, Aphis certificate, TSCA certificate etc..
  • Approval or denial of extra charges that incur during transit with the freight forwarder. 
  • Address issues with customers on final delivery that might need extra attention or explaining.
  • Utilize Clarizen system with active bookings and container inbound details by customer to keep customers updated on their freight deliveries.
  • Documentation – ensure accurate packing lists shared with Finance from Vendors

 

Individual Measures of Performance

  • Develop excellent communications and relationships with Project management Team, Asia
    team, transportation partners, Client and representatives, Sales and Sales Reps.
  • Build Customer Service process and tracking system for inbound milestones & delivery
  • Sense of urgency, service and thoroughness in all customer & broker interactions.

              

  Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sea freight, inland truck and rail logistics.

 

Work Experience: 2 years or more logistics coordination experience including freight forwarding, import logistics, esp. Asia air & sea freight, customs clearance, declarations and related importation documentation, inland logistics incl. trucking and rail arrangements, quotations and contracts. Excellent organizational skills to maintain close management of multiple container shipments upcoming and in progress to achieve delivery deadlines and budgeted costs. Strong negotiator to achieve the best rates to meet tight budgets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
