Carolina takes home two Nightingale Silver Awards at HCD 2022

The Healthcare Design Conference & Expo 2022 opened with success for Carolina with two Nightingale Silver Awards  — Sorta for Furniture: Clinician Support and Lasata Bariatric for Seating: Patient.

Presented by Healthcare Design Magazine in partnership with The Center for Health Design, the Nightingale Awards honor new products exhibited at the conference for their contribution to the healthcare built environment. The awards, named after Florence Nightingale, recognize products across 13 categories that are judged for their contribution or solution for clinical or operational outcomes; aesthetics and innovation; built environment solution, durability, functionality, and quality; industry certifications and standards; and environmental sustainability.

Designed by Henner Jahns with Gecco Vision, Sorta was imagined for flexibility, blurring the lines between healthcare, workplace, and education to create a true solution that can adapt to a user's needs. This playful seating design showcases a wide variety of color options, usage options, and innovation. Caregivers can lean back, settling into a time of connection with a patient or coworker. Patients and caregivers can use the back as an armrest for blood-draw, or a convenient desk for paperwork.

Lasata has grown into a family of patient recliners designed by Micheal Shields with Studio3 to meet specific services of healthcare systems. Lasata positively supports the critical relationship between patient and caregivers, helping them navigate the best possible path toward wellness and a better life. It’s intuitively designed features give patients and caregivers the sense of confidence needed at critical moments. The bariatric version was designed with a wider seat and back, as well as added strength to the stationary arms.

Our new product introductions at HCD Conference & Expo represent Carolina’s commitment to designing and developing innovative solutions for health systems that promote better outcomes for patients and the clinicians that interact with them. We are honored to have our products recognized by the judges for the Nightingale Awards.
