Carolina Expands Offshore to Support More People, Spaces, and Needs Across Healthcare

High Point, NC, — September 29, 2026 — Carolina, the healthcare brand of OFS, is expanding its Offshore collection with new seating and table solutions designed to support a broader range of people, spaces, and needs across healthcare. Developed in collaboration with Achella Design, Offshore now includes guest, multiple, easy-access, bariatric, patient, and bench seating, along with occasional tables. The expansion builds on the success of Offshore sleepover, lounge, tandem lounge, benches, and pull-up table to create Carolina’s most comprehensive collection for healthcare environments.

As healthcare serves an aging population and responds to growing orthopedic needs, seating must accommodate a wider range of mobility, comfort, and accessibility requirements. The Offshore expansion responds to those changing needs with solutions designed for more users and applications throughout different spaces.

““Healthcare is always evolving, and Carolina is focused on creating solutions that give designers and facilities more ways to respond to those changes,” said Stan Gray, Vice President of Healthcare at OFS. “By expanding Offshore, we can support more needs across more spaces while staying true to the thoughtful design and performance that define the collection.””

For healthcare designers, the breadth of the line provides more flexibility to address the range of users, applications, and stages of the care journey within one cohesive collection. A consistent design language, materials, and finishes make it easier to carry Offshore across multiple spaces while still tailoring each environment to its specific needs. The broader range of solutions simplifies the specification process and creates greater continuity throughout a facility.

Designed with patients, guests, caregivers, and staff in mind, Offshore pairs healthcare-focused features with practical benefits for all users. Easy-access seating supports people who may need more assistance sitting down and standing up. Patient and bariatric options provide seating choices for physical and comfort needs. Multiple seating and integrated tables give more flexibility to create layouts that support different uses and levels of personal space. High leg designs and cleanability-focused features make it easier to access, clean, and maintain the furniture and space around it. Consistent design details create familiarity from one space to the next, helping patients and guests feel more at ease, giving staff a more predictable environment to work within, and creating a more connected experience across the facility.

““Empathy is at the center of how we approach healthcare design. It starts with understanding what people actually need from a space,” said Jon Panichella, Industrial Designer at Achella Design. “That thinking shaped Offshore, from the healthcare scenarios we considered to the way the collection supports different people and uses. When healthcare furniture is designed well, people don’t notice it. It simply becomes part of the journey.””

With its expanded line, Offshore extends Carolina’s approach to thoughtful healthcare design across more people, spaces and moments throughout the healthcare environment, reinforcing the philosophy that Design is the quietest form of care™.
